March 10, 2024 Judges 13:1-25 In today’s passage, an angel brings good news to Manoah’s infertile wife: She would have a baby who’d be set apart for God’s service and bring deliverance to His people (vv. 1-5). After news like that, she probably imagined that her son’s life would be filled with holiness and happily-ever-afters. And in accordance with God’s plan, Manoah and his wife taught Samson to follow the strict guidelines of the Nazirite vow of dedication. (See Num. 6:1-21.)  Surrounded By Favor PSALM 5:12 NIV 12 For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. God's favor can change your life. Someone who is favored is called a favor-ite. (The New Testament teaches that being righteous (in right standing with God), is a gift we receive when we receive Jesus -- not something we attain by our works.) So, the promise of Scripture is that God surrounds you with favor. What does that mean? Favor is the blessing of God making people like you and treat you well. Is it automatic? We have access to God's grace only through faith (Romans 5:2). So, you will never experience the fullness of God's favor without believing for it. Faith is released through words. So every day thank the Lord for giving you favor with people, for surrounding you with favor! Don't say, "People don't like me." or "Everybody seems to be against me." or "I never get a break." January 22, 2024 Hebrews 13:5-8 Solitude can be nice—relaxing, even—especially after a busy day or a long shift at work. Spending time alone can leave you feeling recharged and rested. But loneliness is different. So, what should you do if you feel lonely? First, ask yourself if you’ve accepted Jesus’ invitation to have a personal relationship with Him. He is the nearest, dearest friend you can ever have. Second, remember that God repeatedly promises that He will never leave or abandon you. Since the Bible reveals that we, who have been made righteous by receiving Jesus Christ, are to live by faith, we need to know what faith is. Faith is what you believe. In the New Testament, faith is the noun form and believe is the verb form of the same word. Faith is not difficult to understand. If you believe something, that is your faith. Faith and belief are the same thing. A belief is something you have accepted as truth and consider to be true, whether it is actually true or not. Faith is not a feeling, attitude, outlook, or state. Faith is primarily a choice, a decision of your will. Nothing can force you to believe. What you believe is a decision you make.
